According to the Federal Bureau of Investigation, a child in the U.S. goes missing every 40 seconds. To help parents prepare for that ultimate nightmare, the FBI has released a free iPhone app called Child ID. Two features built into the Child ID app can help parents react quickly and accurately if their child suddenly goes missing, says the FBI. First, parents can store on their iPhones recent pictures of their children along with vital statistics: age, height, weight, distinguishing marks, and so on. If a child goes missing—say, at a shopping mall or an amusement park—parents can summon help from dedicated links to 911 and the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. Adoption Fraud Fractures Families

by May 24, 2009 » Add the first comment.

Adopting a child should be a rewarding challenge, and for Mamie and Mark Johnson, that’s exactly what they enjoyed as they adopted 5 children and created a happy and cohesive family. But when Mamie and Mark agreed to adopt their sixth, their rewards quickly changed to frustration and anger as their new child proved to be disruptive, destructive, and dangerous. The Johnsons did nothing to cause their only negative experience with adoption. They’re an amazing couple, and they’re strong advocates for adopting children from difficult backgrounds, which is exactly what they’ve done. All of the Johnsons’ adoptive children were born addicted, and all of them spent the first weeks of their lives going through withdrawal. Despite those horrible circumstances, the Johnsons were able to build a strong and loving family. Please help share this [...] Read more »

Prime the Economy Now

by March 9, 2009 » Add the first comment.

A new president should bring hope for a better economic future, but the Dow Jones average has been dropping steadily since the day after Barack Obama’s election in November. On November 5, a day when the excitement of a new administration coming to Washington should have given the market a big boost, the average fell from 9,616 to 9,139. On inauguration day, January 20, the Dow took a dive from 8,279 to 7,949. From Monday, February 17, the first day the markets were open after the passage of the stimulus package, through the closing bell on March 4, the Dow fell from 7845 to 6875. A Stronger Economic Stimulus

by February 23, 2009 » Add the first comment.

The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, better known as The Stimulus Package, is a step in the right direction, but it is not a bold, comprehensive plan to stimulate our economy across-the-board. We can do better. We need to do better. Please help share this important news with others:Tweet

Creating Demand for Jobs

by February 12, 2009 » Add the first comment.

Stave off a massive recession and crippling unemployment by enacting 100% write-offs for all capital goods purchased in 2009: cars, trucks, machinery, tools, etc., not just “equipment.” Buy a car and write it off in 2009.  Detroit will love it.  Buy anything and manufacturers across America will love it. Why 100%? Please help share this important news with others:Tweet

Cutting Off Healthcare for Kids

It’s disgusting. President Bush and his friends have repeatedly obstructed efforts to expand medical provisions to the poor, specifically blocking SCHIP legislation and holding state governments hostage. Please help share this important news with others:Tweet

Buying Government: Are Corporate Campaign Contributions An Inalienable Right?

Trust-busting president Teddy Roosevelt railed against the fat cats of his time.  So did Louisiana Governor and U.S. Senator Huey Long, as flawed as he was. We need people like that in office today, because the fat cats are still fat and getting fatter – often at the expense of the handicapped, the mentally retarded, children and others who are dispossessed. Both China and the US Abuse Human Rights – Outrageous Fourth Amendment Violations Approved by 293 House Members

Some will argue there is a big difference between the totalitarian government of the Chinese and the current Bush Administration. The current Bush administration is decidedly authoritarian and acts very much like the Chinese government in many ways. The Chinese torture political prisoners; the Bush Administration tortures political prisoners. Please help share this important news with others:Tweet
